Create Your Connection Between SAP HANA DB and SAP Crystal Reports 

This document shows how to install SAP Crystal Reports 2011 on your system and Interface it with the SAP HANA DB to create attractive reports.

If you don’t have SAP Crystal Reports 2011 downloaded in your system, you can get it here:


We take a step wise approach in explaining the process:

Step 1: Download from the above link and Save the SAP Crystal Reports 2011 installation package on to your system.


Step 2: Unzip the file using an Unzipping software and Save it in a folder.





Step 3: Run the Setup.exe file from your unzipped file and choose your language preference.







Step 4: Accept the license Agreement.







Step 5:Select the Installation Path.






Step 6: Put in your credentials and the Key code you will receive in your email, once you’ve registered.







Step 7: Enables you to choose the features that you want installed, to specify where they will be installed, and to check the disk space required by each feature.








Step 8: Click on Next to begin Installation.







Step 9: Click on Finish to end the Installation.









Now, that we have SAP Crystal Reports 2011 installed on your system. Next , we now need to know how to Interface it with the SAP HANA DB to produce simple, complex or specialized reports.

Step 10: Run SAP Crystal Reports 2011 from the start menu. Click on Crystal Reports 2011, Select 32-bit Data Source Administrator.






Note: Although SAP Crystal Reports 2011 is supported on 64-bit operating systems, it is only available as a 32-bit application.


When installing a database driver for SAP Crystal Reports 2011 on 64-bit operating systems, ensure that you install the 32-bit version. A 32-bit application cannot use a 64-bit driver.

Step 11: Click on Add. It will open a new “Create new data source” window.





Step 12: Select HDBODBC 32 (HANA DB ODBC 32 bit).







Step 13: Enter the Data Source Name(DSN), a description. Put in your server address:Port Number. The Port number by default is 30015. Click Connect to check settings. Now Click Ok.






Step 14: Put in the SAP HANA DB Login Credentials. Click on ok.
